█ "To those who monitor Vancouver's vibrant indie rock █
█ scene, Parks and Rec main-man Chris Harris is a █
█ familiar face and notoriously enigmatic character. █
█ All would agree, however, that his subtle virtuosity █
█ and impeccable good taste have lent a great deal to █
█ many local shows and recordings. Chris is a mainstay █
█ of Hive-Fi instrumental post-rock tune-smiths The █
█ Secret Three as well as an erstwhile member of the █
█ label's flagship act, P:ano. Despite Harris's █
█ renowned virtuosity, this album is entirely lacking █
█ in pointless displays of "chops", NAM is notable for █
█ its wonderfully restrained beauty. It's a concise set █
█ of simple tunes set to spartan arrangements, all █
█ underpinning wryly unassuming lyrics. The EP was █
█ recorded at The Hive studio by Colin Stewart █
█ (Destroyer, Jerk With A Bomb, etc) and features █
█ instrumental contributions from Brady Cranfield █
█ (Secret Three), Nick Krgovich (P:ano) and Josh Wells █
█ (Jerk with a Bomb). Any one of it's five songs would █
█ go just right on a mix tape with some of the work █
█ these fellows have done elsewhere. You might want to █
█ stick a little The For Carnation and Red House █
█ Painters on there while you're about it. Then throw █
█ the cassette in your walkman, put on a nice, warm █
█ coat and head for the nearest piece of parkland. █
█ Spring will soon be with us and this is perfect music █
█ to watch the seasons change by. █
