Rare Tap Recordings material from Jackie Stoudemire -- including two
tracks appearing here for the first time ever! Tap's singles are all
pretty darn rare, and like most of the world, we first discovered
Jackie's work on the Don't Stop compilation from Numero -- which
offered up rarities from the label's archives. This set pushes further
than that one, and offers up the first full album of Stoudemire's music
-- a great batch of dancefloor numbers served up in a soulful space
between early 80s club and some of the hipper indie work of the time --
never too polished, and often with some great touches of funk or
spacier sounds in the mix. Jackie's vocals are a bit laidback at times,
but in a way that's a nice change from the obvious club diva mode --
more relaxed, as you might find in some rare soul sides from the 70s --
although with more of a modern soul approach overall.
