│ Kell Simon (aka Phasmid) has been collecting electronic │
│ instruments and recording electronic music since he was eight │
│ years old. In the fall of 2001, Simon sent out a batch of demos │
│ to electronic labels, and the Skylab Operations label in Vienna, │
│ Austria (former home of Her Space Holiday and am/fm) responded │
│ with an offer to release a record. As Simon finished recording │
│ the tracks for this release, he and Skylab label boss Mike │
│ Borras invited electronic artists from around the globe to │
│ contribute remixes of each track on the CD. The result, Her │
│ Friend the Blue Star, was released in February 2003 as a two │
│ disc set featuring eleven Phasmid tracks and a remix of each │
│ track by isan, Bochum Welt, Printed Circuit, B. Fleischmann, I │
│ am Robot and Proud, Tim Koch, David Figurine, Snospray, │
│ Headphone Science, Frederik Schikowski, Sweet Trip, and .tape.. │
│ In September 2002, as a teaser for the 2xCD, Skylab also │
│ released one of the tracks, "Cooper is on Bubbles", as a │
│ full-length remix CD featuring mixes by 15 artists from around │
│ the world. │

│ Phasmid's release for Piehead is Thrift Shop, a four track EP │
│ featuring Kell's own radical reworkings of songs from Her Friend │
│ the Blue Star - cut up, put back together, re-melodized and │
│ vocoded for new and enticing sounds and textures. │
