Jackmate/Soulphiction (aka Michel Baumann). DJ since 1987. Played the
first hip-hop jams in the Stuttgart area. In 1992 he founded the hip
-hop project "Agit Jazz" together with Maximilian Herre (nowadays
"Freundeskreis"). Working at the infamous "Imports etc." record-store
in 1989, he became infected to the classic Chicago-House sound of
Larry Heard, Lil Louis a.o. At this time he also started producing
his own tracks, but it took time to release his first record, which
surfaced in 1996 on "stir15". It's 2003, and he's back on the stage
with his album "The Prodigal Son" on Resopal, and some infecting
live-sets. Catch his unique releases on labels like Pokerflat,
Perlon, Playhouse, Mosaic, treibstoff, Resopal, or his own "Philpot
Records".
Jackmate today with "The Prodigal Son" presents a real masterpiece of
a versatile blend of chicago-influenced house, spiritually minimal
and jackin' electro. Every single track unfolds an atmosphere which
seems to revive the original spirit of the first days of techno and
house with modern means, somewhere inbetween unrestrained lust for
life and mindless party fun - in other words, all that, what Jackmate
represents with every millimeter of his body and every part of his
soul.
