Release Notes:

What a nice surprise: Year Long Disaster is back with a new album.
Bassist Rich Mullins was back on track with Karma to Burn last year so
I couldnÆt imagine he would return with a new Year Long Disaster album.
Their debut was already a very interesting and smooth hardrock album,
and the follow up is even better. The trio has gone in depth with their
sound and wrote a couple of catchy rock songs. I think I can't name any
new hardrock band doing it better nor having the same feeling in it and
adding an own twist to the genre.

After the intro ôBlack Magicö itÆs time for the up tempo rock songs
ôShow Me Your Teethö, ôStranger In My Roomö or ôLove Like Bloodö. The
tempo is partly going down in ôSparrow Hillö and youÆll also hear in
this song how inspired the vocals are from guitarist/vocalist Daniel
Davies (the son of KinksÆ Dave Davies). In the middle the song gets a
bit vague, paying tribute to experimental side of Led Zeppelin. Later
the song explodes into a ravenous rock song. ItÆs also the musical
equivalent for the theme of the album. The album title is inspired by
æThe Master and Margarita', a classic novel by Mikhail Bulgakov. It
questions what would good do if evil did not exist. The sound of Year
Long Disaster draws parallels to the wisdom in this book. Without
shadows, there is no beauty. Without evil, there is no good.

On their second album the music constantly flows between driven
hardrock, psychedelic elements and laid back parts to get ready for
things to come. Never does it become boring and one of the highlights
is ôFoggy Bottomö; just as ôThe Fool and Youö from the debut this one
is dragging you down in illusory territories.

Year Long Disaster has written the perfect music for the spring time or
a hot summer evening when you are firing up the BBQ. The band is also
very good live; check it out on the Paaspop Festival on the 3th of
April.
