Release.Info :
From starting to play the piano at the age of 7, through to picking up the alto
sax, then being introduced to a drum kit, as well as plucking a few chords on
the guitar, it's pretty safe to say that Adam Gibbons, aka Lack Of Afro, lives
and breathes music. Taking it's cues from the heavy funk and soul of the 70s &
combined with modern production ethics, the debut long player Press On delivered
big style, with Adam playing virtually all the instruments himself. Hailed by
iDJ magazine as "one of the greatest albums of the modern funk era", right from
the start you hear an understanding of what works both on the dancefloor and at
home. With My Groove, Your Move, the follow-up LP released on Freestyle this
Autumn, Lack Of Afro looks set for world domination. Proper vocal tracks combine
with a sound that stretches the funk to new limits, whilst all the time
retaining the signature Lack Of Afro elements: raw heavy drums, superb
arrangements and an honest organic love of the good groove.
