Robert Hood's latest project is heavily inspired by the classic 1971 sci-fi
flick 'The Omega Man'. Both 'Alpha' and 'Omega' find Hood in full flight, making
a metaphorical comment on the relentless consumerist tendencies of modern folks,
rendered in some of the fittest beats he's produced in years. His sci-fi vision
on 'Alpha' is centred around a scarily reverbed kick drum and subtly upbuilding
layers of minimalist percussion carrying lean and tense synthlines that stretch
out into the distant horizon. With 'Omega (End Times)' he shuffles the pattern
into a hypnotizing moireΘ of metallic percussion and slowly phasing delays,
stretching time and space for a seriously involved dancefloor experience. We
can't wait for the full album but these tracks will keep us very satisfied til
then! Recommended!
