with "the new latinaires", ubiquity melds the concepts behind
their three imprints (luv n' haight, cubop, ubiquity) in a more
cohesive manner than ever. it offers a couple of rare groove
tracks in their original format, remixes of those tracks by
well-revered electronic producers, then new sounds by
up-and-comers heavily influenced by both.
germany's jazzanova take the latin beats straight-ahead with
"atabaque", a nouveau brazilian track that's still full-on bossa,
then take it deep and jazzy with their remix of the classic
"welcome to the party" by har-you percussion group.
beatless, from the uk, came up with the term "latinaire" and here
take it to the level of a sonic samba, full of percussions and
more kicking than the rest of the new tracks.
