Electronic Pop.
At one point OCKER decided to dissolve pop-music's framework and to reconsider
their aesthetic demands on modern music. The result was an instrumental EP -
THE NORRENEBEL SESSIONS - recorded with conventional pop-music instruments as
well as electronic devices and samples, in which the fact of being instrumental
is a logical conclusion rather than a dogma. All of them natives of northern
Germany's harbor city Hamburg, they are aware of the omnipresent local music
scene without having too much in common concerning musical approaches. OCKER
supplies soundtracks for nightlife and day-trading. Observing reality and daily
absurdity, be it the Junkie/Yuppie - contrast of Hamburg's Schanzenviertel or
simply their own capitalistic existentialism, they try to refocus on their
musical visions of a perfect soundtrack every time they enter their rehearsal
space. Their influences include Air, Tortoise, Kraftwerk, Plaid and Aphex Twin.
Until now, they played Concerts with different bands, among them Broadcast, Laika
and Amor Belhom Duo, in various Cities in Germany as well as a Performance at the
EXPO 2000 in Hannover. OCKER also produced the soundtrack for the Trailer of the
14th International Short-Film Festival in Hamburg.
