The prolific Jus-Ed comes correct again with some more of that special stuff.
Despite only releasing since mid way through this decade, Ed's built up a
brilliant catalogue of classically informed yet infectiously fresh tracks on his
own Underground Quality imprint, proudly flying the flag high for proper deep
house values in a time of dabbling dilettantes and half-arsed impressionists.
GV-255, which is a new Jus-Ed pseudonym steps up the funk with this tasty treat.
This plate is one of the strangest and most affecting we've heard yet, bearing
"Step Up 1" & 2" on the A-side, utilising the same Detroit influenced string
motif over martial snare rolls and heavy house patterns nudged into shape with a
keen attention to detail. But it's the B-side tracks that have got us a little
giddy, firstly the chunky piano chords and tripping atmopsheres of "Step Up 3",
followed by the shocking "Step Up 4", featuring a bowed Cello that makes the
piece sound like Hildur Gudnadottir jamming with Levon Vincent. Seriously
people, miss this one at your peril!
