- ª a bar. But the situation is getting out of hand: If the ª -
- ª popularity of "river hangouts" continues to gain ª -
- ª momentum at this pace, the Moscow River will soon be ª -

- ª Floating nightclubs, in particular, seem to have become ª -
- ª enormously popular in Moscow this summer. At least five ª -
- ª such clubs boast their own musical and entertainment ª -
- ª styles, including house, rock, trance and even ª -
- ª transvestite shows. ª -
- ª One of the oldest floating clubs is Rynda. It sets sail ª -
- ª on the Moskva-28 riverboat from the pier opposite the ª -
- ª Rossiya Hotel every Friday and Saturday at 11 p.m., 1 ª -
- ª a.m. and 3 a.m. Apart from the fresh river breeze, ª -
- ª Rynda's attractions include cheap alcohol and popular ª -
- ª DJs Kubikoff, Helga, Zorkin and Sanches. Surprisingly, ª -
- ª face control is as strict as at such upscale clubs as ª -
- ª Zeppelin or Shambala DJ Bar. But thanks to that, the ª -
- ª mood is cool and relaxed. ª -
- ª Another floating hangout, which has furrowed the waters ª -
- ª of the Moscow River for several seasons now, is Avrora, ª -
- ª a vessel once popular with some members of the Russian ª -
- ª government. She is fitted with mock cannons and ª -
- ª generally furnished to resemble the historical Avrora ª -
- ª Cruiser, which started the 1917 October revolt. The ª -
- ª original is now permanently moored in St. Petersburg ª -
- ª but her namesake sails from the pier opposite 10 ª -
- ª Krasnopresnenskaya Nab. She leaves every Friday and ª -
- ª Saturday at midnight, returning to the pier several ª -
- ª times in the interval from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. On ª -
- ª Fridays, it hosts gay parties with transvestite shows, ª -
- ª "Rechnye Stervy" (River Bitches), and on Saturdays it ª -
- ª is devoted to trance-music fans. ª -
- ª The Boat is a floating club that has sailed the Moscow ª -
- ª River for two years now. It is part of a project called ª -
- ª "Live On The Water," developed by Nash (just Nash), the ª -
- ª art-director of the Rhythm-n-Blues Cafe and a soloist ª -
- ª in the rock band Blast. The Boat sets off every Friday ª -
- ª between midnight and 2 a.m. on the Moskva-51 riverboat ª -
- ª from the Krymsky Most pier on Frunzenskaya Nab. The ª -
- ª entertainment program includes live concerts by two ª -
- ª rock bands and Blast, not coincidentally, usually ª -
- ª performs as the headliner. Concerts take place on the ª -
- ª lower, roofed deck, while the open-air upper deck hosts ª -
- ª discos in the style of the 1970s-1990s. Since The Boat ª -
- ª opens at 10 p.m., most of the crowd gets drunk by ª -
- ª midnight when concerts begin. ª -
- ª A special nightlife event this season has been the ª -
- ª appearance of the floating dance club SeaZone. The ª -
- ª brainchild of Sixteen Tons, SeaZone is equipped with ª -
- ª two dance floors (one on the upper deck and one on the ª -
- ª lower deck), a chill-out room and a bar. It sets off ª -
- ª from the pier beside Expocenter every Friday and ª -
- ª Saturday at 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Spinning at ª -
- ª SeaZone are the best Muscovite DJs, including Rudyk, ª -
- ª Bobroff, Berg, Jeff and many others. Several times a ª -
- ª month the club hosts Barcelona Sound parties in the ª -
- ª style of the annual festival SONAR. Coming up this ª -
- ª summer are concerts by Tito (August 2), MouseUp (August ª -
