| X | Ambient music has long been tarnished by its association with | X |
| X | new-age aesthetics and cheap 'dolphin-sound' compilations readily | X |
| X | available at your nearest herbal remedy shop or local garden | X |
| X | centre. This week's selection has been compiled with far darker | X |
| X | objectives in mind, bringing together 14 supremely ominous | X |
| X | recordings designed to elicit a sense of foreboding and | X |
| X | apprehension. With a spiritual connection to Industrial music, | X |
| X | and often using much the same palette as Metal, the sound was | X |
| X | pioneered by Coil back in the late 80's and has continued to | X |
| X | evolve via the likes of Helge Sten (aka Deathprod) and Svarte | X |
| X | Greiner, artists unafraid to construct bleak tapestries with just | X |
| X | the tiniest slivers of light allowed in to colour those immersive | X |
| X | black textures... | X |
