Release Notes:
The follow up to last yearÆs thoroughly under-appreciated Summer of
Hate is being produced in part by Simian Mobile DiscoÆs James Ford,
which is both good and bad news. FordÆs resume includes Artic Monkey,
Klaxons, and Peaches, but the electro-minded Ford brings a new attitude
to Crocodiles.
ôSleep Foreverö is the first single off the upcoming album, and itÆs
certainly more approachable to the average listener than the noisier
Summer of Hate ever was. Not that the new single is disappointing, just
that itÆs different, and FordÆs influence on the track is certainly
noticeable. The vocal harmonies are instantly clear, something that was
virtually unrecognizable on last yearÆs lo-fi album.
With the resurgence of lo-fi and noise pop since 2009Æs Summer of Hate,
itÆs certainly interesting to note this change in demeanor. Have
Crocodiles turned their back on the genre they helped popularized just
one year ago? Grab the new single and decide for yourself.
