│ Toka's long awaited release "Aquatix ep". Enjoy! ││
│ ││
│ Toka (AKA Bosh records owner Ian Carney), took to the decks ││
│ back in 1989 indulging in the diversities of house and ││
│ techno amid the blooming free party sound system scene. With ││
│ Chiba City Sound System he traveled the length and breadth ││
│ of the uk in search of the next festival. By 1991 most ││
│ people had lost their sound systems to the new legislation's ││
│ and were forced indoors... ││
│ Toka began promoting his own ôJoyö parties in Coventry, ││
│ whilst gaining valuable experience at the city's legendary ││
│ Eclipse club. Around this time Toka began practicing the art ││
│ of music production, and with partner Jasper formed the ││
│ seminal tech-house-dub outfit "Nol". They performed a number ││
│ of memorable live sets including Glastonbury 1994 and ││
│ released two ep's on their own Implant label. Also in æ94 ││
│ Toka began promoting the "Bosh" parties at Coventry's west ││
│ indian centre, where they remain to this day... their ││
│ monthly gatherings attracting guests such as Terry Francis, ││
│ Pure Science, Eddie Richards, Chris Simmonds and Nathan ││
│ Coles.s ││
│ ││
│ In 1997 Toka launched Bosh records with the release of ││
│ "Tomkat", the first collaboration between himself and ││
│ Shaboom producer Mark Bell. Toka's next single, ôTropikaö ││
│ attracted a great deal of attention, appearing in the sets ││
│ of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Josh Wink, Andrew Weatherall ││
│ and Eric Morillo. Now approaching its 20th release, Bosh is ││
│ now established amongst the worlds most consistent purveyors ││
│ of underground house vibes. ││
│ ││
│ Toka has developed his DJ technique over the years and moves ││
│ deftly between sparse deep techiness and heavyweight house ││
│ grooves, much to the delight of the discerning party animal. ││
│ Appearing regularly in Spain and Portugal, he feels most at ││
│ Lisbons infamous after hours at the Garage. Toka has a new ││
│ production partnership with Portugese Dj Del Costa... under ││
│ the "Elephunk" moniker they have released two ep's, ││
│ "Emerald" on Bosh and ôHightide epö on Spanish Minifunk ││
│ records. ││
│ ││
│ Also Toka has recently joined the ranks of Shaboom and is ││
│ representing them some of their showcase events. selected ││
│ gigs: Release - Los Angeles; Mile high - Denver; Spundae, ││
│ Bionic -San Francisco; Propaganda - Moscow; Moog - Barcelona ││
│ ; Mekka - Setubal; House Cafe - La Coruna. ││
