The first of three Concord LPs by this particular edition of █≡
the Quartet (with Jerry Bergonzi on tenor, Chris Brubeck ██
doubling on electric bass and trombone, and drummer Butch ██
Miles, whose successor would soon be Randy Jones), found ██
Brubeck enthusiastically playing three of his originals ██
along with the standards "Yesterdays," "Caravan" and "The ██
Masquerade Is Over." Bergonzi's Coltrane-influenced tenor ██
gave this unit a different sound than the earlier Quartets ██
and meshes surprisingly well with the pianist/leader. -- ██
