From the legendary jazz circles of Lars Gullin, Stan Hasselgard and
Jan Johansson to the modern Swedish Gonkyburg music collective of
Yukimi Nagano (Koop, Stateless), Andreas Saag (Swell
Session/Stateless), Quant, Plej, Ernestos, Season and Hird, Swedish
music is as vibrant and vital as ever. For those who don't know,
Gothenburg currently is establishing itself as one of Europe's
centres of sophisticated electronic music. With a community (calling
their world 'Gonkyburg') of almost a dozen young and extremely
talented producers, DJs and musicians now seeing the time right for
releasing their debut albums. Joel Eriksson who records under the
name of JOL is the new rising talent from this collection. He has
already released on Quango and Dot, as well as numerous computer
games (Battlefield 1942, Ice Age, Wannabe) and soundtrack for an
animated film "The Great Forest". His music is featured on various
compilations such as Free Zone 5, Music and Movement Vol 1 and Test
Three. His debut album on Denmark's April records, "Moody Aow"
encompasses a board spectrum of striped-down funk, jazz and modern
electronic grooves. This is the unique sound of JOL - spacious
programming integrated with quirky samples and unpredictable melodies
to bring you fresh vibes! In this 11-track album, you'll find many
unique and well-contrasted productions from the up-tempo grooves of
"Going Down", "Cool Cat" and "Hubba Ghost" to the slower numbers of
"Spirits of Pyrinee", "B.B. Smooth" and the lovely "Kids in the
