| Free Tallinn Trio is a unique combination of a |
| singer with an exceptionally wide range of voice, |
| Anne-Liis Poll, a classically trained piano |
| virtuoso, Anto Pett, who has concentrated on free |
| improvisation for the last 20 years, and a jazz |
| guitarist, Jaak Sooaar, one of the best-known |
| jazz musicians of the Baltics. The freely |
| improvised music of Free Tallinn Trio could be |
| described as contemporary impro chamber opera, |
| but the main influences are derived |
| simultaneously from contemporary music and modern |
| jazz improvisation. The different backgrounds of |
| the members lead the trio into unexpected |
| adventurous territories and help to avoid typical |
| cliches of free improvisation. All three members |
| of the trio work as lecturers at the Estonian |
| Academy of Music and Theatre. The trio has |
| performed successfully at several European jazz |
| festivals. Free Tallinn Trio has just released |
| its second album "A Tale" under the British label |
| Leo Records. |
