SANTA MONICA, CAàTrombonist Jeff Bradshaw takes center-stage
with the release of his star-studded Hidden Beach
RecordingsÆ (HBR) debut CD "Bone Deep," which lands in
stores everywhere October 28. The album, a soulful blend of
jazz, R&B, funk and hip-hop elements, serves to introduce
the Philadelphia-bred bandleader to the music world as well
as highlight the trombone as a front-line instrument.
Along with BradshawÆs spirited horn riffs and passion-laced
vocals (yep, he sings too), "Bone Deep" also features guest
turns by Bilal, Glenn Lewis, NÆDambi, Floetry, Carol Riddick
and bassist Gerald Veasley, as well as labelmates Darius
Rucker and Jill Scott.
Scott, who provides the lead vocals on the CDÆs first
single, "Slide," showed her versatility by directing the
music video for the infectious mid-tempo track. The video, a
lush production featuring a 1940Æs recreation of a Harlem
Renaissance club, has been serviced to video outlets
nationwide.
Mostly produced by Bradshaw himself, "Bone Deep" also
features the production talents of James Poyser, Isaac
Phillips, John Roberts, Junius Bervine and Pete Kuzma from
DJ Jazzy JeffÆs Touch of Jazz production team, among others.
After building a reputation as a highly regarded
instrumentalist in PhillyÆs club circuit, Bradshaw burst
onto the national scene as a member of Jill ScottÆs band
during her breakout 2000-01 world tour. He has also
performed with such artists as Musiq and Floetry, where he
served as the musical director for the female tandemÆs
nationwide tour.
With "Bone Deep," the gifted "slide-man" is set to redefine
the public perception of the trombone, and add his name and
unique style to PhiladelphiaÆs rich music tradition.
Founded by music veteran Steve McKeever, Hidden Beach
Recordings is an independent record label based in Santa
Monica, CA. Along with introducing music sensation Jill
Scott and saxophonist Mike Phillips, Hidden Beach is also
