█ █ So, a while ago, after I reviewed this band's antecedent █ █
█ █ release, the band actually emailed me and told me about █ █
█ █ this release and I told them I'd be happy to review it as █ █
█ █ well if they'd send me a copy. After that they never got █ █
█ █ back to me. I guess they weren't too keen on giving stuff █ █
█ █ away for free, since that's probably not a very good █ █
█ █ business model. Anyways, I eventually did get a copy and █ █
█ █ even though it wasn't free I can now assure you all that it █ █
█ █ is great and has perfectly re-affirmed all the faith (which █ █
█ █ never once wavered!) I had in this band and their prospects █ █
█ █ for becoming a powerhouse of old school modern metal not █ █
█ █ just in South America but the world over! █ █
█ █ █ █
█ █ Now to be honest, when I first popped this in, I was very █ █
█ █ surprised within a short amount of time. The riffs, the █ █
█ █ tone, the sound, the amazing lyrics, and the attitude are █ █
█ █ all the same as the previous demo, but somehow it was so █ █
█ █ radically different in delivery that for a while I was █ █
█ █ worried it might not be as super great as the first demo, █ █
█ █ but after giving it some serious focus and absorbing it as █ █
█ █ a holistic work I've come to the conclusion that the change █ █
█ █ was only surprising, not offensive, and this is just as █ █
█ █ good as the first demo, even better in some ways! █ █
█ █ █ █
█ █ Ok, so it still sounds like early Sarcofago, early Beherit, █ █
█ █ and early Havohej were involved in a three way car wreak █ █
█ █ that mixed up all their equipment and they sewed each other █ █
█ █ back together as best they could, using whatever parts were █ █
█ █ available to create one band's worth of monstrosities with █ █
█ █ enough ideas for ripping, bouncy, punkish black metal riffs █ █
█ █ to fill a few dozen cds, but overall the band seems to have █ █
█ █ matured a bit and developed a style of riffs and riffing █ █
█ █ more particularly their own than anyone elseÆs, and it is █ █
█ █ really great seeing them grow into themselves this way. The █ █
█ █ style of composition has also moved away from their █ █
█ █ previous influences into a more second wave of black metal █ █
█ █ era, incorporating the technique of using long passages █ █
█ █ broken up by spikes in rhythm and angular derivations █ █
█ █ originally designed by Darkthrone and later perfected by █ █
█ █ Judas Iscariot. This ties in well with the change in █ █
█ █ delivery previously mentioned. Where before each part of █ █
█ █ every song was delivered with Indiana Jones face melting, █ █
█ █ head exploding directness and intensity, now the riffs and █ █
█ █ vocals, which come in the form of a gruff, articulated howl █ █
█ █ which sound better than before despite not being quite so █ █
█ █ inherently spiteful, have been slowed down and the songs █ █
█ █ themselves have been extended to accommodate, cementing the █ █
█ █ Judas Iscariot comparison, while simultaneously the █ █
█ █ percussion remains rippingly fast with iNsAnE hyperblasts █ █
█ █ making it somewhat the equal opposite of Discharge. █ █
█ █ █ █
█ █ The problems with the production I mentioned before have █ █
█ █ been mostly fixed (mostly), but also replaced in some cases █ █
█ █ with other problems. The guitars are higher in the mix, but █ █
█ █ still don't have quite as much presence as they really █ █
█ █ should, considering how excellently it is used. It could █ █
█ █ also use a bit fuller tone. It needs more midrange as it █ █
█ █ loses a lot of the power it does have when it's focused on █ █
█ █ the trebly end. Also, the guitars have a distinct hiss to █ █
█ █ them which is particularly noticeable at the beginning █ █
█ █ before the music starts and whenever there is a lull in the █ █
█ █ action. Everything else entirely hiss free, if a tiny bit █ █
█ █ muffled, so it's not as though it's just over the whole █ █
█ █ recording like it was ripped from a tape. It's just a bit █ █
█ █ of annoying high end coming off the one instrument. █ █
█ █ █ █
█ █ For all that's changed, what remains the same is what made █ █
█ █ it great before. This demo, like the one before is totally █ █
█ █ evil, energetic, and violent black metal from the unearthed █ █
█ █ bowels of hell out to destroy Christianity and normal human █ █
█ █ beings for the deadly sin of weakness! Once again, I wish █ █
█ █ it as longer. Two or three more songs length would have █ █
█ █ given this the play time necessary to become a truly █ █
█ █ immersive listening experience, but for what it is, it can █ █
█ █ still fully engross and present the blasted, terrible █ █
█ █ images of the global chaos and human hating for which it █ █
█ █ stands. Metalheads: send the band money in exchange for █ █
█ █ this release because they deserve it and you need to hear █ █
█ █ it. Band members: keep up the great work! █ █
