Release Notes:

Greenlandic musician and songwriter Simon Lynge releases his first collection of
songs for British label, Lo-Max. Even the most cursory listen through the
album's opening immediately communicates just how commercial and resolutely
mainstream his writing style is, yet Lynge gets away with it by virtue of being
so unfashionably sincere; when he sings "Give me love and I'll bring it back to
you" on 'Love Comes Back To You', he means it so much you might actually forget
just how many times you've heard these sentiments before. Lynge's music takes a
very traditional slant on what it is to be an acoustic guitar wielding
troubadour, bringing to mind the likes of James Taylor and Cat Stevens with his
radio-friendly delivery. Rare moments of grit and usage of a minor-key occur
towards the middle of the album, with elaborate full-band recordings 'One Day At
A Time' and 'Infinitely You'. The former lays on a dense arrangement of organ,
harpsichord and even a screeching electric guitar solo, while the latter really
goes to town laying on some pleasantly jarring sitar lines. It's the
fingerpicking album sign-off 'The Future' that perhaps best epitomises Lynge's
writing style though, deploying a Eurovision-calibre schmaltz-heavy chorus ("If
we want to break free we can/If we want to play music, do it now/And praise the
moon, the mountains and the sun") with a refreshing, if somewhat disorientating
lack of cynicism.
