25 years after breaking through with Take
On Me, one of the most iconic 80s hits there
is, a-ha are still going strong - though not
for much longer. Next week will mark the end
of an era in synthpop; a-ha will retire, and
play their last gigs ever. While some might
consider them an 80s one hit wonder, this
couldn't be further from the truth. Unlike
many bands from the era still playing, you
won't find them at retro festivals, but rather
playing at large sold out venues across the
globe to a very devoted fan base. They've kept
producing chart-breaking music, their current
music sounds as fresh today as their 80s music
did back then. As a country rarely thought
of for their music, a-ha is Norway's biggest
music export in history.
This release is the rare concert footage
assembled by songwriter Paul's wife Lauren
during their 91-92 tour of South America -
their biggest market. As noted above, their
gig at Rock in Rio 2 actually set a Guinness
World Record for paying audiences, yet it
received little attention in the media.
Shortly after the release of this concert
footage, the band would go on a hiatus that
would last until the following decade.
They've never looked worse than they do
here, with bandanas, leather vests and hair
everywhere, but they sound great, and seeing
▄█▓▀▄ their audience really puts into perspective ▄▀▓█▄
▐█▌ ■ the phenomenon of this often overlooked band. ■ ▐█▌
█▓ ▓█
██ There are Japanese subs in the tour footage ██
░█▓ scattered inbetween the songs, but this ▓█░
▄██▓██ shouldn't be too distracting - it's the small ██▓██▄
▐▀ ▀██▌ price to pay for getting the best quality ▐██▀ ▀▌
■ █▌ available for this title. ▐█ ■

▓█▌ ▐█▓
█▒█ █▒█
▄█▓▀ Since 2003, FLAiR has been dedicated to pres- ▀▓█▄
▐█▒ erving the neglected titles of an entertainment ▒█▌
██ era long gone. A time of classic kids flicks, ██
▀▓▄▒ painstaking hand-drawn animation and countless ▒▄▓▀
▀ cheesy low-budget horrors. A time when pop had ▀
a King, and rock had a Queen. A time when special
FX wizards ruled, and CGI was just one of their
many tools.
Driven by nostalgia and memories of better
days, we seek to relive those times, and share
those memories. While our belief is that the
80s represent the very pinnacle of pop culture,
we will not limit ourselves to one decade, or
any single genre. We will not ignore the movies
considered insignificant or even embarrassing by
the studios. We will not disregard a timepiece
just because it is dated.
Whereas most groups rely solely on digital
sources, there are still thousands of rare and
out of print titles, many of which have no
planned digital release. We've made it our
mission to dig these out, clean them up using
the best hardware and techniques available to
us, and share them with the world. Be it VHS,
Laserdisc or more exotic formats, we're here
to bring you the best (and worst!) of decades
■▄░ past. So sit back and enjoy as we uncover and ░▄■
░▓▄ pay tribute to an age of cinema we will never ▄▓░
