Five years passed between 1993's Lethal Injection and
Ice Cube's next studio album, War & Peace, Vol. 1 (The
War Disc). The controversial rapper put a lot of time
and energy into acting and directing during those five
years, and ù like Ice-T, Will "the Fresh Prince" Smith
and Queen Latifah ù had done well for himself on camera.
Although not in a class with more focused gems like
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and Death Certificate, this is a
decent, if uneven, project that finds a 29-year-old Cube
making a strong effort to appeal to hardcore rap tastes
of the late 1990s. The production (most of it by Cube
himself) isn't abrasive or forceful, but rather takes an
eerie, atmospheric approach that isn't unlike what you
would have expected from Capone-N-Noreaga, Mobb Deep or
Kinfusion at the time. Providing a lot of tricky
tongue-twisters, Cube emphasizes technique instead of
putting all of his energy into getting a sociopolitical
message across. Nonetheless, he still has a lot on his
mind. "Ghetto Vet" is a chilling account of a newly
disabled gang member having to cope with life as a
paraplegic, while "Penitentiary" and "3 Strikes You In"
take a look at America's prison system. With this album
(the first of Cube's War & Peace discs), the rapper
unveiled his Don Mega character, a ghetto gangster who
wore a tophat and makeup worthy of Kiss

by groups who would refuse to release anything but current
year music.Well since that time we have been rocking the
scene with classic rock rips.We have made classic music
mainstream in the scene and have been on top in that area as
the number one group in classic rips. We finished 2001 with
3800 rips.As we moved forward in 2002 we found we were also
releasing alot of quality 2k2 rips and saw that we were competing
in that area.In 2002 we finished with over 5000 rips.In 2003 we
plan to move forward and continue to release "THE NEW STUFF" and
strive to be on top in 2k3 rips.We will also continue to remain
on top like we have for 2 years in the classic rock scene.
