Fantastic baroque jazz rock from Brazil! Som Imaginario were
one of the greatest groups working in Brazil in the early 70s
-- and they had a style that mixed the complex jazzy arranging
styles of artists like Egberto Gismonti or Edu Lobo with some
of the harder instrumentation of other progressive bands of the
time. Wagner Tiso is in the group playing piano, and his jazz
sensibility gives the music a level of complexity that is
mindblowing! He wrote nearly all the tracks on the album -- and
the record's a beautiful mix of fusion, jazz, rock, and
Brazilian rhythms, all instrumental all the way through. Titles
include "Armina", "A 3", "A Matanca Do Porco", "Mar Azul", and
"A (Nova Estrela)". An incredible treasure!
