Alex Neri's Tenax Recordings makes a welcome return following the
success of February's 'Got A Party' by Memoryman. As a label, Tenax
are all about releasing only the finest in quality
house music, and the Florence based imprint is set to treat us once
again with this latest release from Italian trio, The Clover.
Two musician/DJ's, Antonio Pecori and Stefano Meucci, together with
bass player Andrea Giachetti are, The Clover. Their mission? To
deliver fresh tech-funk and housey grooves, all with an american
west coast flavour. Their stunning live act, matching laptops and
live bass, delivers a wonderfully warm and sunshine filled mixture
of analog and digital soul.
With their releases already appearing on Bosconi, Sunplay, Klamauk
and Ethique, and having brought us their Tenax digital release 'A
Cherry Pulls The Other', the guys return with the excellent 'Space
Family EP'.
The Clover bring the sunshine vibes once again and leading the way
is the wonderfully refreshing, funk filled 'Summer Dog'. Whether
he's playing in the sun or lazying in the shade, this disco puppy
has everything needed to get the party started. Its jackin' groove
and sexy vocal work brilliantly with its 90's strings to produce a
summer smash.
'Freshman' sees the act getting down and dirty with some deep
beats, filthy scratching and classic hip-hop samples. Fresh is
certainly the word! Closing the EP is the elegantly twisted 'Lady
Stoner'. 80's drum machines and analog synths create our damsel's
paranoid moment to perfection.
