NOTES
The French duo return with the sublime Soupape EP. Over the 6 tracks on this release
the duo explore a wide range of styles. The moody, horn-driven Amourette kicks things
off, before an excursion into the chopped Brasilian beats of Passarinho and
Automatico. Side B takes a more uptempo 80s flavoured club-friendly vibe in the shape
of Soupape and Croque Madame before finishing off with the boom bap hip hop sound of
La Romance.
The whole EP is full of the duos idiosyncratic sound with their soulful influence to
the fore. This is a must for DJs and is sure to cement their reputation within the
beats / funk scene. With another fantastic sleeve design from regular collaborator
Alice Dufay (look out for the limited edition hand-drawn sleeves), this is another
must-have release from Souleance ahead of their debut album in early 2011. Whilst
we're on the subject of the new album, Souleance are running a competition for MCs to
appear on a track.
