│ drugs. Instead, the group uses its music to spread a │
│ message of empowerment as vocalists Ahmad, Tena Jones, and │
│ Jabu flawlessly flow over the always-strong │
│ instrumentation supplied by Tim (guitar), Phat Albert │
│ (bass), Drummy Dave (drums), and Gailybird (violin). │
│ It's a group that thrives on its live shows and makes │
│ ample use of its accomplished musicians during each │
│ performance, as Ahmad, Jones, and Jabu draw much of their │
│ energy during shows from the lively playing of the Jones. │
│ After his relationship with his first record company │
│ soured, Ahmad decided to regroup and establish his own │
│ Look Alive Records with partner Roman Gallegos. The Los │
│ Angeles resident formed 4th Avenue Jones and started │
│ preparing for the group's first album, No Plan B. The │
│ album's title illustrates the group's determination to │
│ persevere until its music reaches the masses. │
│ │
│ 4th Avenue Jones has created music that will appeal to │
│ underground hip-hop fans who crave the sounds of Black │
│ Star as well those who swear by the hardcore works of DMX. │
│ The group's appeal comes from its top-tier lyricism and │
│ hypnotic production, which includes tight, live │
│ instrumentation. Keeping with the group's revolutionary │
│ stance, 4th Avenue Jones employs a distinct musical │
│ approach through the album by trying new recording styles. │
│ Tena Jones sings the dreamy song, which has an R&B flavor. │
│ Urging listeners to hang in there, she creates a sense of │
│ ease that is both comforting and soothing. Fans will │
│ undoubtedly feel good after listening to much of the │
│ album, as the Jones showcase the potency of their music. A │

│ Ahmad, Jones, and Jabu grown to be better friends, but │
