Release Notes:
"To be honest, before I came to Portugal I knew only one portuguese band. I
still remember the day in 2004 (?) when a skatepunk-band called Fonzie won the
MillencolinÆs cover-song competition with a really nice cover of Olympic.
Nowadays Fonzie is doing more adult-ish rock music with portuguese vocals, but
since the glory days of early 00's it seems that metalcore and indie are taking
control of these locals aswell. Now people are going crazy while waiting Before
the Tornæs sophomore album called The Serpent Smile.
IÆm not saying that Before the Torn represents that kind of music I usually
like, but for some reason I feel like I actually need to introduce these local
bands for you. Fortunately this quintet is pretty good one in itÆs own genre.
Before the Torn is not trying to follow the latest trends of metalcore/deathcore
even though it definitely has some influences from the over-brutally and
over-produced deathcore, but in general The Serpent Smile is more about blending
Gothenburg sound to Parkway Drive. These guys are passionate about metal and you
can really hear it from The Serpent Smile. In my opinion all the young
scene-bastards should rather listen to this than those awful deathcorebands like
Suicide Silence."
