Release Notes :
Despite its perception as a minimal label, Poker Flat has always pushed
Chicago-influenced elements, so the 'back' part of the release's title is a
little misleading. More importantly though is the artists' ability to mould
their own take on this timeless sound. Steve Bug does this by using a stuttering
'j-j-j-j-jack' vocal sample and tougher than usual beats on the title track,
while on "V2U" Martin Landsky dispenses with the ominous sound of "1000 Miles"
in favour of a more understated but equally menacing bass, fused with rasping
percussion. Best of all though is Cle's "Reaching Out", which combines a
"Washing Machine"-style churning bassline with eerie synth lines.
Poker Flat continues to roar ahead into 2011 with a seriously jam-packed new
compilation on CD, Vinyl and Digital, featuring only brand new and exclusive
tracks entitled éForward to the Pastæ.

Poker Flat continues to roar ahead into 2011 with a seriously jam-packed new
compilation on CD, Vinyl and Digital, featuring only brand new and exclusive
tracks entitled éForward to the Pastæ. According to label boss Steve Bug it
érenders homage to the period between é85 and é92æ, traversing the heady sounds
of Chicago House, Acid, New York House and Early Detroit Techno. This exclusive
2 track single, taken from the compilation features Steve Bug and Martin
Landskyæs supreme tracks in a celebration that éJack Is Backæ! Opening the
selection Steve Bug puts on his jackinæ shoes in éJack Is Backæ - a classic
Chicago jack-a-thon in the purest form. Tight analog drums and synths work up a
storm just like Bug would have done back in the days. Fellow Front disc-jockey
Martin Landsky provides a sumptuous deep house vision with éV2Uæ. The man is
always on form and this doesnæt disappoint, fusing old-school drums and
basslines with a modern head for the floor.

This put a big smile on my face...some sequences are etched into the brain of
those kids of that period that wasted their youth on the dancefloor and Jack Is
Back has nailed one of those sequences. V2U and Reaching Out are there as well.
Great history reminder. Will play this.
