Release Notes:
Portuguese/British internet sensation's debut pop-rock release, featuring
Youtube favorites Questions In My Mind, Chained and Child.
Ana Free has been a compulsive performer, artist and songwriter since the age of
11, and has written over 400 original songs to date. She grew up expressing her
thoughts in songs and says that if you read her songbooks, youÆll know her life
story. At the age of 8, Ana learnt to play guitar, her signature instrument, and
began sticking ideas and melodies together.
Fast-forward 13 years to 2008. Straight out of University in the UK, the
British-Portuguese pop artist had already garnered her fair share of the new
exploding media audience. With over 25 million unique video views, combined with
her armada of over 70 000 YouTube subscribers, Ana independenly released her
debut single ôIn My Placeö in Portugal. She was featured in a large advertising
campaign which helped push her music into the number 1 spot on the charts.
She continued to pursue her passion through 2009, touring over 30 shows, writing
and recording for her fans and travelling around the globe from London (where
she currently lives). She embarked on a series of different projects, including
recording the Portuguese Tinkerbell theme tune for Disney, releasing a pop EP
project ôRadianö which she debuted in North America to sold out shows in Miami
and New York City.
Aside from swiftly continuing to build an impressive brand, Ana Free has opened
stages from festivals to sold-out arenas for artists like Shakira, James
Morrison, Joe Brooks, and played at the American Airlines arena in Miami.
Growing up, I went to an international school near her hometown of Cascais.
Sports is a big passion of hers and she ran track, played volleyball, tennis,
and was captain of the football and volleyball team. Singing and acting in
school plays also encouraged her drive for music and creative expression. In
2008, Ana completed a degree in Economics at the University of Kent in
Canterbury (UK), and believes that education is one of the best ways to improve
people's lives.
