Frog pocket are here again with a new release on Benbecula, after
previous releases on Moutmouth and Planet Mu.
Jangly bag of broken glass samples accompanied by plodding brass
footsteps welcome you into the world of " Jupiter lady mountain
village". Delicate pips and enchanting crunch thuds surround the
thick morning air all around you, drawing the moisture out of the
air and expelling it outwards in waves of spangly which wash down
the mountainside, chasing all the minature ghosts away. Excellent.
"Oh the place you'll go!" clicks and bounce stutters along, like a
robot would, if a robot had a wooden leg fill of electric marbles.
Dropping a reconstructed eastern style melody, bags of sunshine are
planted in the deep mud which litters the hillside, just be careful
as the farming bots dont take kindly to intruders.Whipping rewind
strikes and pasture rich violin melodies fill your lungs with
goodness. Love it.
"Always never (dumfries and galloway mix)" takes you into the
future aboard an illegal speed machine, leaving in its wake a fast
paced glitch stutter beat kick posse that lets out a electronica
filled theme tune to fuel your imagination, but "Omulad" lets you
into the mind of a turtle casually making his way down the beach,
chilled mellow guitar riffs and thudding sub hits massage your
brain into relaxation.......smooth.
My ass is well mental, well actually "My mental ass". Taking
another turn musically, we are introduced to a manic breakbeat
chaos squash Squarepusher style onslaught. Repeating drums and
oscillalting amiga electro melodies kick you in the face and grab
your attention, whilst spluttering drum machines overload from too
much input. It all chills out near the end where you get soaked in
science fiction, to calm it all down. You have to hear this track,
simply amazing stuff. Get on the dancefloor asap, and try not to
wear your knees out. Classic.
"Hey Hope" runs over your head and stops inbetween your eyes and
begins to sing for you. Letting out a beautifully minimal organic
intro, tiny drum strikes and wooden clickbeats join in for the
party as the ingredients mix and muffled electronic vocals emerge.
Water like rewinds and churning clouds call you into the forest
where the mushroom people are waiting for you, just remember its
only a dream...or is it?
Frog Pocket has created an intricate, attacking and melody rich
release. Track after track reveals something new which makes you
listen, just to know what is coming next. Another recommendation
from the 'pocket on the mighty Benbecula. --tesselate.me.uk
PS. This is the first release from the talented people of -v2
who desided to join forces with sweetbeats... We're all
looking forward to having you guys onboard ....Welcome!
