▄▀░████▓░▀║ their mark with the house/industrial mix that was ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ popular for a short while. Lords of Acid, KMFDM, ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult were the ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ leaders of this scene, and all three suffered ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ from creative problems as the musical climate ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ changed around them. Where Lords simply moved ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ closer to techno and KMFDM retreated to the metal ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ guitars of their early-'90s work, My Life With ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ the Thrill Kill Kult kept up the old sound with ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ very mixed results. The full-length album that ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ emerged, The Reincarnation of Luna, was ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ wishy-washy and confusing, leaving this ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ accompanying remix record with little to work ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ with. The main problem is that the satanic ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ samples and trash culture celebrations are cut ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ away and the bandmembers try to survive on the ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ music alone. They aren't bad musicians in any ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ respect, but they are also not very original, ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ leaving these songs to sound like pretty average ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ house records from the late '90s. This is quite ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ disappointing considering the energetic throb of ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ their early releases, but in a way it seems like ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ the Thrill Kill Kult are unsure of what to do ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ with themselves anymore. Sonically, the record is ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ at least danceable, and the cold synthesizer ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ lines and strained vocals are still entertaining ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ in that environment, but the album is too ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ repetitive to really listen to more than once or ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ twice. A few remixes attempt to remedy this, ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ including the TRS-80 funk reworking of "Hour of ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ Zero," which gives the song the space it needs to ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ work, and the awesome French disco revamp of ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ "Temptation Serenade" by Francis A. Preve. But ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ more often than not, the record is the sound of a ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ synth line being driven into the ground with the ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ occasional sensual vocal floating by, and that is ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ much less than what fans have learned to expect ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ from these former pioneers. Although they sound ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ fresh enough to hint at a possible escape from ║▀░▓████░▀▄
▄▀░████▓░▀║ this slump, this album is as low as they've been ║▀░▓████░▀▄
