This live set recorded in Milan in the fall of 1974 is the
first recording featuring Stan Getz with the talented pianist
Albert Dailey, along with two additionally superb musicians,
bassist George Mraz and drummer Billy Hart. Originally issued
by bootleg label Joker on LP and reissued by yet another
bootlegger, Moon, on CD in 1990, this disc features just three
tracks, but each of them is an extended workout of a great
composition. Wayne Shorter's "Lester Left Town" is a driving
opener, followed by a typically lush Getz treatment of "Lover
Man." Chick Corea's "Time Lies" runs over 21 minutes, but the
musicians never run out of ideas. While Getz is clearly the
star of the show, he doesn't overly hog the spotlight, as the
members of his band also get extended solos. Unavailable since
the demise of Moon, this recommended CD still shouldn't be
terribly difficult to locate.
