Garten Der Asche started out as a two man band from South Africa.
Paul Baumgartner and Kevin Ashton formed the band in the beginning
of 2003. After working with a few musicians and vocalists during the
band's incubation process, Paul asked his friend, Philbrey Botha, to
do a guest vocal appearance on the track "Joy Of Friendship". After
recording the track Philbrey became an official member of the band.
Sadly Kevin Ashton (who wrote the lyrics for most of the current
songs and who did some vocals on "Awful Truth") left the band to go
to the UK at the end of 2003. Garten Der Asche draws inspiration
from various genres and artists/bands, like Diary Of Dreams,
S.I.T.D., Wumpscut, Velvet Acid Christ, Diorama and even Cradle Of
Filth and Dimmu Borgir... this vast array of influences can be heard
in all Garten Der Asche's tracks. Their songs on this demo CD range
from goth/darkwave tracks like the title track "Garten Der Asche"
through to EBM "Joy Of Friendship (club mix) and industrial "Soul
Stripper". "Soul Stripper" is a cover song, the original was made by
Diary Of Dreams, the band which is questionably Garten Der Asche's
greatest influence... the band covered this song as a tibute to
Diary Of Dreams.
The current line-up of the band is as follow :
Paul Baumgartner - Music, lead vocals, lyrics
Philbrey Botha - Backing vocals, lead vocals on "Soul Stripper",
lyrics, production

MORAL DiSCLAiMER: We are very aware of the fact that our releases
contribute to the growing sale losses of record companies.
Unfortunately our style primarily targets small, independant labels
that need sales to survive.
For these reasons we ask you not to distribute this release on public
sites or P2P tools; if more and more receive their music from the net,
artists and labels will have to face even less sells than nowadays.
Please do not consider this release as a substitute to the original, but
only as a way to check out and learn about new music.
We absolutely do not approve of DJs or other individuals that earn
money from pirated music - Don't let them get their hands on it!
By buying the albums you like you disperse the guilt we feel by
releasing this music - Enjoy the music and be fair with the artists!
YOUR support is required to keep them financially alive and producing!
