Never was there such a strange and wondrous musical
meeting as the one you have here before you. Two of the
most original musical talents to inhabit the known
universe collide to create an intensely bright æshining
starÆ. This really is Sci Fi Disco.
æLegendaryÆ is a much over used word but when it comes to
Nancy Sinatra itÆs perfect. Daughter of Frank Sinatra,
husband of Lee Hazelwood but more importantly one of the
greatest and without doubt one of the sexiest singers of
all time, together with the mystic disco Merlin that is
Black Devil Disco Club, an enigma within an enigma (if
you donÆt know who he is by now then you probably never
will).
After the protean delights of the original version we
have a deep, delicious dub by Horse Meat Disco, which
lights up the night like a thousand fireflies. Logo take
the track in a more electro disco direction whilst
retaining the mystery and intrigue of the original. Like
a masked ball scene from Kubricks æEyes Wide ShutÆ full
of sex and shadows. Back on planet Earth Grovesnor pulls
some smooth moves to create a labyrinth of chord changes
that would make Steely Dan blush, like Air scoring a Bond
movie with Nancy taking over from Shirley Bassey. Epic,
majestic and oh so lush. Lastly Californian
experimentalists Vitamin Wig C transform the original
into a curious slice of cyber funk that takes it to the
bridge of a Starship heading far out into deep space.
